..and as the much anticipated solar eclipse has finally made it way through Oregon, we now hear clearly the parent’s chant of “…Back to school…Back to school “...but first let’s spend some time as Family on Monday, 4 Sept.
This is Labor Day! Created to celebrate the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, lasting well-being of our country. Some believe this is the end of Summer?! In our family we believe it is the beginning of other activities with cooler weather.
Let’s take a few moments and consider the events that shape our September after Labor Day.

Our attention is first drawn back to the events of 11 Sept 2001. Monday, 11 September is the anniversary of 911 attack. We encourage you to spend a few minutes reflecting upon this event and remembering the victims that died and their families and friends. For those that have served or have family members in military service...Thank you for your service.
On Wednesday, 13 September we celebrate “Positive Thinking Day!” That day is all about attitude…A positive attitude. It is a lot like the ant when faced with moving a rubber tree plant thought, “I think I can”. With that in mind, I just know that everything will go fine this day forward!
Then we encounter Thursday, 21 September which is United Nation’s International Peace Day with a goal of “A day of non-violence and cease-fire”. Wouldn’t it be great if this one day succeeded and spread country by country, day by day until there is no more war or violence? Can this goal ever succeed? Former Beatle John Lennon had the right vision in his song, “Imagine!”
There are many events in September so check out the complete listing on the web.
Our Chapter’s September events begins with monthly Branch meetings and in some cases regularly scheduled social events. Please check our calendar at www.pmiwv.org for Branch meetings.
