Message from the President
As we prepare to bring our 2019 program year to a close, I want to remind our members of two upcoming events.
First, our December lunch program in Corvallis will feature a presentation by Eric Gradine on proven methods, tips, and tricks on how to control your task backlog. In the spirit of giving, in lieu of the usual registration fee, we'll be accepting canned food items for donation to a local food bank.
Second, if you are thinking about getting your CAPM or PMP certification before the exam changes in mid-2020, we're offering a Tuesday evening prep course in Salem starting January 28. Reserve your place now to take advantage of learning project management methods from local experts.
Finally, on behalf of the PMI Willamette Valley Chapter Board and volunteers, we send you our best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and our sincere thanks for your membership and goodwill throughout the year. Please join us in 2020 for an exciting lineup of project management professional development, education, and networking activities.
President, Willamette Valley Chapter
Corvallis Lunch Meeting
Friday, December 20
Control your Backlog, Control your Sanity!
There are thousands of good ideas, and only the bandwidth to address an extremely small fraction of them. Requests for new features and improvements constantly come in at a rate that far exceeds team throughput.
Find out how one small change, putting a hard cap on our backlog size, and the resulting process improvements it sparked, changed a team of "obstructionist do-nothings" into the super stars of the organization. Speaker Eric Gradine will layout the history of the problem, the failed attempts to turn to the team around, and the magical moment of clarity that turned everything around, and how this simple change was applied to other teams with similar results.
Register normally, or bring 3 food items instead of the normal registration fee. Just choose "Pay at the door" and bring in 3 food items which will be donated to a local food bank at the end of the meeting.
December 20, Noon to 1:30 pm, Corvallis Depot, 700 SW Washington Ave. Register now!
