Chapter Transparency

Updated 2025-10-23. This page is under construction.

Executive Summary

PMIWV started the year with many members on the Board. The leading belief in Q1 was that we needed more volunteers to actualize change in the Chapter. In Q2, the resignation of most members (due to personal reasons or other priorities), plus the failed onboarding of new volunteers, exposed the deeper issues. Town Halls and other requests for research were executed, in addition to an all-virtual PDC. For Q3 and Q4, the team will be looking towards the 2025 Membership Meeting and the further exploration of a PMI Oregon Chapter.

Please know that the 2025 PMIWV Board is committed to transparency and we will continue to add important information here as we are able.

Transparency Efforts in 2025

Current Communication Standards

  • Newsletter - a classic approach to managing information for large, diverse groups. Delivered monthly, the Newsletter is suspended in the summer months.
  • Branch Meetings - the Chapter has local divisions called Branches that allow people to meet in person. Food, drink, networking, and education opportunities are governed by local Branch Presidents, who are also part of the Board and have the latest intel on what's going on in the Chapter.
  • Email - all members are welcome to email [email protected] for any questions, feedback, comments, or volunteer opportunities.
  • 2025 Town Halls - in-person and virtual events to talk about the most difficult challenges facing the 2025 PMIWV Chapter.
  • 2025 PDC Feedback forms - Google Forms sent to all people, whether they attended or not.

2025 Town Halls - Results

Key Results

  • Volunteers continually expect a viable Board with 2-5 hours of volunteerism per month. Studies on the PMI Role Description Survey reveal that Chapter leadership roles require about 40 hours per month volunteering, Branch leadership roles requires at least 10 hours per month, and only small, tactical roles can effectively contribute at 2-5 hours per month (i.e. not enough to sustain a Chapter or a Branch).
  • Engagement is significantly down post-COVID.
    • The most common reason given is: "I don't have the kind of time that PMI is expecting."
    • The second most common reason given is: "People don't want to work after they are done working."
